Mr. Đuro Vidmarović, president of the Croatian Writers’ Association, visited Vancouver for Croatian Book Week 2018 as a guest of the Society of Friends of Matica hrvatska. On three very pleasant evenings, November 12, 13 and 14, Mr. Vidmarović gave compelling talks on the following topics:
– “Work and Creativity,” in which the speaker, Đuro Vidmarović, discussed his own writing
– “Never Again… 100 Years Since 1918”
– “The Life and Work of Filip Lukas”
After each talk he answered the audience’s questions with the same knowledge and skill.
On November 15, those of us at HSS Vancouver were honoured to have him with us at a dinner prepared by our members. We showed Mr. Vidmarović our hall and told him about what we do, and he was pleased with the way we keep up our archive and library, our lectures, and more.
All in all, a truly precious evening in the company of a most distinguished guest.
