Welcome to our website!

In the early twentieth century the Croatian people embraced the great ideals of the Radić brothers and joined the branches of the HPSS in large numbers. These branches promoted education, through which national awareness and self-confidence grew. Croatian cooperatives, the Croatian Sokol and other organizations were founded.

Our ancestors brought these noble principles to Canada and officially founded HSS Ontario as early as 1933. In the following years they continued their work across Canada, promoting patriotism and the sovereignty of the Croatian state.

Vjera u Boga i seljačka sloga!

Members’ Meeting at HSS Vancouver

A regular meeting was held at our hall on April 29, 2018.

The president opened the meeting with her motto, “Vjera u Boga i seljačka sloga.” Next came a short history talk on the “Banovina of Croatia” and the role it played in bringing us closer to our dream of independence. The talk was warmly received.

The executive committee updated members on the regular work of our organization, the date set for “Croatian Day” (to be held on June 17), the approval of a donation to the “Knights of Columbus golf tournament,” the website and other matters. Members were also told about the Main Committee meeting in Montreal.

As is our custom, refreshments followed the meeting, this time a barbecue with salads, our own good homemade wine, coffee and sweets.

All in all, a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
