TO ALL BRANCHES OF HSS CANADA, EASTER 2019
Dear brothers and sisters, followers of Radić: Easter is here, yet there is still snow on the ground, and a cold wind straight from the North Pole chills us to the bone. Some of us have lived here for more than half a century, and we still can’t get used to the Canadian winter. It is part of our lot as emigrants who left home to earn a living. Back home, the campaign for the European Parliament is in full swing. HSS is part of the Amsterdam Coalition led by Anka Mrak Taritaš, and our HSS candidates are Dr. I. Bahtijarević, a well-known paediatric surgeon, and Damir Novotny. Croatia’s economy is marked by a strong tourist season and progress in every sector. The Pelješac Bridge, which the Chinese are building, is coming along very well. Chinese President Xi visited Croatia, guarded by 4,000 police officers in the largest security operation in Croatia’s history. More and more Chinese tourists are coming, and relations between the two countries could hardly be better. Here in Canada, our work is running smoothly. The Main Committee will meet in Sudbury on May 25, 2019, and the agenda will include a discussion about Krešo Beljak. The prevailing view among us here is that we stand on the centre right, with a distinctly anti-communist outlook. In a letter of protest to party headquarters in Croatia, we expressed our disapproval of the party’s turn to the left.
I wish all followers of Radić in Canada and their families a happy Easter, the greatest feast of the Christian year.
Yours,
Ivan Vukelić,
President of HSS Canada
